Construction Update 10-5-18

Center City

On the Grand River building, level 7 walls were completed and concrete was poured on level 8 this week. The pour for level 8 should be completed next week and wall panels for level 8 should start being installed as well. Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing contractors continue their installations within the interior of the building as windows are installed. The buck hoist is going through its final inspections and is expected to be operational next week.

On the Albert building, the slab-on-grade pouring is nearing its completion as masonry walls are going up on the exterior of the building. Concrete stair wells have begun to be poured and are making their way up the interior of the parking deck. This week, concrete pours took place on level 5 of the east side of the garage.

Consumers Energy Gas Line –Connections to Businesses

Consumers Energy continues their work to make service connections to the gas main. During the week of 10/08, Consumers Energy will be working in the alley Monday through Thursday. Please note on Wednesday, (10/10), the west end of the alley will be closed to vehicle traffic. Consumers Energy has coordinated the service disruptions with adjacent businesses and property owners. Work will only take place on Friday, 10/12, if the scheduled work is delayed.

The Hub @ East Lansing

Shoring for level 3 has continued from the west side towards the east and is now approximately 20 feet past the center of the building. Rebar/post tensioning is being installed in the same sequence as the forming on the third floor. First pour of level 3 is planned for 10/11 with the second pour planned for 10/23. Concrete placement will continue on a regular basis, utilizing closed roads or the alley directly adjacent to the project to minimize impacts to traffic/pedestrians. Deliveries will continue to increase, as Electrical, Mechanical, and Fire Suppression trades continue roughing in the garage and first floor, beginning to work their way up the building. Backfill of the foundations is nearing completion, reducing dump truck and earthmoving equipment traffic in and around the site.

The contractor continues to monitor the site for safety and implement additional traffic control techniques as necessary based on delivery volumes.
